Rutherford College Lions Club members keep two Blessing Boxes stocked with food for the needy located near the town hall in Connelly Springs and the other at a community park. Every year, the club awards scholarships to local high school students and sponsors a fishing club for students. In March, the club’s annual ham plate fundraiser is very popular with the community and proceeds go towards the club’s various community service projects. Club members partner with local churches to feed families in need across the community. If you live in the Rutherford College community, this club will welcome you as a volunteer!

The city of Valdese, NC holds its Waldensian Festival every August to commemorate the heroic Waldensian people who founded Valdese in 1893. Valdese club members are always a part of the celebration hosting a booth to sell brooms, and a raffle for great items. Proceeds support programs and services for the blind and visually impaired in their community. Club members host a Christmas party every year for a local retirement home in the community and award college scholarships to high school students through their foundation. The club also provides eye exams and glasses for individuals in need. If you live in the Valdese community, this club will welcome you as a volunteer!
